Movie Tavern Prices
In the old days, people used to go to the movies and then proceed to the neighborhood tavern to relax before going home. Nowadays, the movies-and-tavern combo can be found in a single place, the nearest Movie Tavern location in your area!
Here, guests find that there’s no need to travel from the theater to the tavern because everything’s in one place. The dinner and a show concept may also be offered by other cinema chains but it’s only in Movie Tavern where the community spirit is the strongest.

History
The first Movie Tavern theater was opened in 2001. Today, the chain has nearly 30 theaters equipped with digital screens in ten states across the United States. In September 2013, however, VSS-Southern Theaters, LLC acquired the Movie Tavern chain; Southern, in turn, is a subsidiary of Veronis Suhler Stevenson.
Southern itself is considered as one of the largest theater circuits in the country. Aside from Movie Tavern, the company also owns and operates AmStar Cinemas and The Grand Theaters.
Convergence of Cinema and Cuisine
According to the company, each Movie Tavern location has the world-class facilities to provide its guests with movies, meals and margaritas. Based on personal experience, the theaters are indeed the best places to be when you’re looking for great movies, delicious meals, and refreshing margaritas, and more! If you aren’t familiar with the trio or you haven’t enjoyed it for a while, you will find that it’s a great way to de-stress from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Movie Tavern theaters offer its guests chef-driven menus so there’s always delicious food and drinks available for the young and old alike. Guests can order their food and drinks in the theater’s lobby, proceed to the auditorium, and wait for their orders to be brought by the servers to their seats.
Emphasis must also be made that Movie Tavern makes a distinction between Original and Premier locations. In an Original location, guests have to order and pay for their orders in the lobby. In a Premier location, guests can make their orders via the in-cinema staff, wait for the food and drinks to be delivered to their seats, and call the servers in case of extra orders midway through the movie.
The Original locations are Movie Tavern Ridgmar and Movie Tavern Northlake Festival. All other locations are considered as Premier theaters.
Depending on the theater, guests can choose no-reserved and reserved seating. If you choose a non-reserved seating theater, you should ideally arrive early (i.e., 45 minutes before show time) so you can choose your preferred seats. If you book tickets in advance via the official website, you can choose your preferred seats; terms and conditions apply.
Guests can choose to just eat at the bar without buying a movie ticket. Guests can also watch a movie without buying from the bar and concessions; food and drinks bought from outside are not be allowed into the auditorium. The latter policy is standard in the industry, too, not to mention that the menu prices are reasonable, especially considering the efficient in-theater service.
Of course, Movie Tavern theaters are best known for the excellent quality of their auditoriums. Every theater in the chain is equipped with all-digital projection technology combined with state-of-the-art audio system. The result: Guests feel like they are in the movie, in a manner of speaking, as opposed to being a mere spectator.
The theaters also offer 2D and 3D movies. The special equipment will be provided in case of 3D flicks.
Movie Tavern has also taken the dinner-and-a-show concept to the breakfast-and-a-show level via its Breakfast & A Flick program. Guests can catch an early show time for the latest feature film and choose from a wide range of breakfast items, such as freshly-made pancakes, bacon and eggs, and mimosas and Bloody Marys. This is only available on Saturdays and Sundays in selected locations; the early showing appeals to adults who want to start their day with a relaxed mood and a full stomach.
The chain also has several alternative entertainment fare offered to its guests. First, the Retro Cinema showcases classic movies on the big screen; the event happens only two days a week in selected locations.
Second, the Tavern Arts program highlights the best in non-mainstream fare on the large screen. These include concerts of notable personalities and bands, operas from the Metropolitan Opera, and plays from the best companies in the state. There are also special film presentations like indie and art-house films. The program is available in the Williamsburg, Virginia and Fort Worth, Texas locations so far.
Other special programs include the Summer Kids’ Flicks on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as Flashback Cinema on Sundays and Wednesdays. Not all of these programs are available in all locations so be sure to check with your neighborhood Movie Tavern first.
